River Stour - Lamarsh

The WWII pillbox overlooking the Stour is one of many sited along the riverside meadows. They formed a continuous line from the coast around Colchester up to Sudbury, and beyond, and were part of the defensive network known as the Eastern Command Line. This 'Stop Line' defence was constructed to slow or halt German forces invading the country via the North East Essex coast
